Lone Giant 03:30
Whenever I think about 'The Shining', I think about the loveliness of the proposition of Jack's employment, and of the tragedy - of how he blew it so completely. I keep my particular fantasy of living in a lighthouse I'm sure totally at odds with the reality - distanced immeasurably; yet, critically, necessary. And I relate my fantasy to a friend who looks back at me and, Woolfishly, quizzes me on why I want to live in a giant penis. "Because I hate people, that's why." That's why I want to live in a giant penis.

about

Two years ago Lone Giant turned 10 years old (or rather, it was 10 years since we, LOPD, released it as a single for the first time - the song itself dates from 2006 and is a reworking of a much older track we wrote in about 2001).

To celebrate, in 2018 we released a 10-track cassette tape (copies still available for sale! Look under the 'merch' tab, above) featuring 5 versions of Lone Giant, as well as 5 versions of Simon Love’s Motherfuckers - the song he wrote for the ‘BB’ side of our split 7" which we collectively released at Xmas in 2010.

So this year, to celebrate Motherfuckers’s own 10th anniversary, and also to celebrate Simon’s birthday (which is today!) - and also as an ‘up yours’ to those Brexit motherfuckers, and 2020 in general why not, we each have covered the other’s song.

We hope you like them!

BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Stephen Fingleton directed a music video for Simon's Lone Giant which is available to watch here:
